For Josephine and Oliver, the idea of opening a We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym began in late 2020 when they returned to Georgia and found a We Rock Gym nearby. Josephine was playing with the idea of weaving together the needs of her family, herself, her career, and the importance of neurodivergent affirming spaces for people across all ages.
This idea started to gain traction during their move to make Minnesota their home in 2023. It was clear that the Gym offered many things that were needed in their new community and that they had been hoping to find in their previous home: inclusive, supportive, safe fun for all kids and families.
“A Place Where You Never Have to Say ‘I’m Sorry’ “was seen, felt, and lived in this space – It was then that we knew we wanted to do everything possible to bring this same space to our new family and community.
Josephine and Oliver were raised in Georgia where they met as kids and married in 2008. Upon the diagnosis of their second son, quickly followed by their third and fourth sons, and eventually all their children, they knew that their home rested squarely in the neurodivergent community, and they have devoted many hours of volunteer time to their local schools and in their community to foster inclusion and acceptance of all neurodiverse children.
